Best pal: Jo Yeates did not have a secret lover, she was besotted by her man Greg

THE best friend of Jo Yeates yesterday dismissed suggestions that the murdered girl was cheating on her boyfriend with a secret lover.

Rebecca Scott was the last person to speak to Jo, 25, on the night she vanished from her home in Bristol.

The girls arranged to meet up on Christmas Eve but days later Jo was reported missing.
Rebecca told how Jo and boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27, had just celebrated their second anniversary.

Rebecca, 25, said: "I was not aware of anyone else on the scene. Jo was besotted with Greg and he was with her. He is a lovely guy and they had a lot of feelings for each other. Anyone could see how happy they were together.

"Jo was not someone who would move in with someone and buy a cat with someone on a whim. It was clear Jo and Greg were the real deal."

Speaking for the first since her friend was murdered, tormented Rebecca revealed Jo's favourite spot was the famous bridge her killer is believed to have driven over to dump her body, which was found on Christmas Day.

She said: "Jo loved Clifton Suspension Bridge. We would sit next to it and talk about everything best friends do."

Jo's landlord Chris Jefferies, 65, was arrested on suspicion of her murder on December 30 but later released on bail. He denies any involvement.
