#MichaelJackson : Doctor Conrad Murray 'did not tell ER about propofol'

Michael Jackson's doctor did not tell emergency room staff that he had given the singer a powerful anaesthetic on the day the star died, a court has heard.

Dr Conrad Murray failed to mention he administered propofol – however it probably would not have saved Jackson’s life as he was already ‘clinically dead’, Dr Richelle Cooper said.

Dr Cooper added Murray – on trial over Jackson’s death – informed her only that the 50-year-old had been given the sedative lorazepam.

The UCLA Medical Center doctor told jurors she did not ask Murray to sign a death certificate because, by the time Jackson arrived at the hospital, he became her patient.

‘He was my patient and I didn’t really have an explanation for why he was dead,’ she said.

Prosecutors allege Murray provided a fatal dose of propofol – which is normally used under close supervision in hospital – prior to the singer’s death on June 25, 2009.

Dr Cooper previously testified she gave paramedics permission to pronounce the singer dead although Murray wanted resuscitation efforts to continue at the hospital.

But nothing could revive him after an hour of further attempts, she explained.

She also said that Jackson’s children were ‘crying’ and ‘fairly hysterical’ when she tried to speak to them after their father was pronounced dead.

Murray, 58, denies involuntary manslaughter. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
