Buro Happold expert Vincent Tabak is understood to live in the Bristol flat next to the one where Miss Yeates lived.
Scaffolding was today erected around the flats.
A police van was parked outside Buro Happold’s offices in Lower Bristol Road this afternoon, and the firm was refusing to make any comment, referring all enquiries to Avon and Somerset Police.
Mr Tabak, who is Dutch, works as a people flow analyst at the internationally-known engineering consultancy.
He has previously lived at Second Avenue in Oldfield Park and at Walcot Parade in London Road.
The search comes after an unidentified 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder early this morning.
The 25-year-old’s body was found on Longwood Lane, Failand, North Somerset, on Christmas Day morning, sparking a huge police operation.
Miss Yeates, 25, of Clifton, was last seen on December 17 walking home from the Bristol Ram in Park Street where she enjoyed a Christmas drink with colleagues.
Her boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27, reported her missing after he returned from a weekend away in Sheffield.
Today Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones, Avon and Somerset Police’s senior investigating officer, said: “I would like to thank the public for their continued support for the investigation and the information they have provided to us.
“I would also like to pay tribute to Jo’s family and to Greg who continue to be unfailing in their support to me and my team at what is an incredibly difficult and painful time for them.”
